General Admission Policy:

All Balar Malar schools undertake kids from 4 years of age. Application forms need to be filled out including permission to publish photos, mail consent and allergic details (if any). A standard NSW Dept of Education application format is followed in all schools. Schools have the right to use your details for all administrative activities. One of the parents needs to be a member of the Balar Malar Tamil Association Inc., by paying the annual membership fee while performing kid(s) enrolment. Please check your local Balar Malar school for the detailed admission policy, as it may vary from school to school. After admission, the local school Principal/Teacher will assess your kid(s) and enrol in the appropriate class. Senior kid(s) who start learning Tamil at different ages will be placed in lab/bridging/special classes and trained as quickly as possible and be placed in appropriate classes.

As part of the Balar Malar Tamil Educational Association's online enrolment process we need your consent to collect and store your personal information. Before consenting, please ensure you read the following:

Why do we collect information about your child for enrolment and how do we store it?

The personal information collected on this application is for purposes directly related to your child's education including processing this application.

Any information provided to the Balar Malar Tamil Educational Association ( Balar Malar School ) will be used, disclosed and stored consistent with our privacy policy.

Certain information is required by Balar Malar School to meet its duty of care and other legal obligations under public health, education and child protection legislation and for meeting data collection and reporting requirements under Commonwealth – State funding agreements which may involve evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.

Information may be disclosed to NSW Federation of Community Language Schools and other organisations for the above purposes and as authorised or required by law.

Information will be stored on a secure electronic database. You may access or correct the information by contacting your child's school. If you have a concern or complaint about the information collected or how it has been used or disclosed you should contact the school.

If you choose not to provide some requested information it may have a detrimental impact on your child's enrolment, resourcing of the school or meeting your child's educational needs.

After submitting your application, if you need to access or correct any personal or health information submitted you should contact the relevant school that you have applied for enrolment at.

What are we doing with information you provide to us?

We will be collecting and analysing online enrolment usage data to help make this a better product into the future, making it easier for parents to enrol their children in our schools.

At the end of the application process you will be asked to declare the accuracy of the information and submit. On submitting your application you will receive an email containing a password protected copy of your application.

Balar Malar School will also receive a copy of this email. When you contact the school, they will advise you about which documents you will need to bring with you to the school.

When consent to use photo is marked as Yes, it means that you agree to the following:

Balar Malar Tamil School, is able to take photographs/video of your child, and to publish the photographs/video/work of your child as many times as it requires in the ways mentioned above.
Your child's photograph/work may be reproduced either in colour or in black and white.
Your child's photograph/work will not be used for any purpose other than for general promotion of languages education in Community Language School.
Any photographs will be kept for no longer than is necessary for the abovementioned purposes and will be stored and disposed of securely.
While every effort will be made to protect the identity of your child, the Community Language School cannot guarantee that your child will not be able to be identified from the photograph/work.

If you agree to permit the Community Language School to take photographs/video of your child, and to publish the photographs/video/work of your child including in print, online, social media and all other forms of media.

I understand that the information about my child provided on the NSW Community Languages Program (CLP) Funding Application is used for the purpose of applying for and monitoring funding under the CLP.
